Biography

Teresa Freeborn joined Xceed Financial Credit Union on September 25, 2006, as President and Chief Executive. Freeborn oversees all aspects of the Credit Union’s operations and represents Xceed globally. With fourteen Financial Centers in six states, Xceed currently serves 60,000 members and with $740 million in assets.

Freeborn brings more than 37 years of credit union experience across the breadth of the credit union system. Before joining Xceed, Teresa was a key member of Kinecta Federal Credit Union’s executive staff serving as Senior Vice President of Marketing & Communications as well as President of Kinecta Financial and Insurance Services. Prior to moving to the United States from Canada, Freeborn held the position of Vice President, Services & Communications at Credit Union Central of British Columbia.

Freeborn is an active advocate in the credit union movement. She is a member of the Research Council for the Filene Research Institute, a member of the California Credit Union League’s Board of Directors and the second vice chairman on the Executive Committee, and chair of the Credit Union For Kids Advisory Board–Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. She currently serves as vice chairman/chairman elect on the Board of Directors for the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES). She is also a member of the Western CUNA Management School Board of Trustees and World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) Supporters Advisory Committee. Freeborn has just recently been named one of the industry’s “women to watch” by CU Times.

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Freeborn holds an MBA from Simon Fraser University and currently resides in Rancho Palos Verdes, California.
